Therapy Style

My style of therapy is practical, short-term, results-oriented, and gentle. Together as a team, we determine your goals for treatment. In our sessions I will ask you questions that can lead you to insight and clarity. I give you feedback in a compassionate way, and I might recommend some strategic exercises that you can practice in your everyday life.  Therapy is not one-size fits all so I use an integrative approach that includes cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and psycho-dynamic orientations.

About Me

The special combination of doctoral level clinical psychology education, and experience as a master’s-prepared registered nurse gives me a unique perspective on the health of your mind/body connection. Sometimes emotional pain is expressed through headaches, stomachaches, or general malaise. On the other hand, it may be that physical suffering or fatigue are the source of your sadness or anxiety. Or, you may not have a problem at all but simply desire guidance from an objective listener in the form of life coaching or career counseling.


Born and raised on Maui, and having lived on the East Coast for 11 years, I value diversity and provide culturally-sensitive, compassionate, and competent care. I have a special understanding of Filipino and local cultures of Hawaii, and also understand the plight of newly relocated mainlanders and immigrants.
